November Day at the Zoo

Friday was a gorgeous day! The sun was shining and it was a nice, warm day. So when Melinda called to see if the boys and I wanted to go to the zoo, of course I said Yes! I knew the boys would LOVE it.

So we skipped out on Music Makers and loaded up in Melinda's van and headed for the zoo. The boys love to carpool in Melinda's van with her girls. There is plenty of room for all of us, especially since Laura is in school during the day.

The first thing we did at the zoo was ride the train. Since the train and the carousel are the big favorites, we try to do one at the beginning and one at the end.

The kids all love riding on the zoo train! When we got off the train the kids had to check out the water ball. This time they were sticking leaves on it and watching them roll over the top! What a bunch of sillies!

The peacocks seemed to be out in full force on this fine fall day. Here is one that was just wandering around on the boardwalk. I love the pretty blue feathers! The boys and I got pretty close to the peacock, but made sure we didn't scare or chase it.

We also saw a peacock over by the monkey house. It was probably not showing off for us, but we sure enjoyed the show!

Next we went to visit the elephants. Jacob loves to visit the large elephant statue in front of their enclosure. He wants to climb up on the elephant's trunk every time we are there. This time he felt like chilling out on the trunk for a while.

Jacob and Sara both enjoy the elephant statue, but as you can see, Ephraim is nowhere to be found!

He is not a big fan of the statue because it makes noises, sings a song and sneezes. He thinks it is a little bit scary. Ephraim does enjoy watching the elephants though! He was telling me that their little mouths were talking to him. What a funny boy.

We enjoyed the leopards and tigers, which were particularly active that day. This picture doesn't really show it, but they were pacing around in front of the glass, which all the kids thought was exciting.

Of course the boys had to climb on the tiger statues, so I had to try to take a picture. Of course getting BOTH boys to look at me and smile at the exact same time is nearly impossible! Oh well!

We looked a the giraffes and then headed for the carousel. There were quite a few people at the zoo, so Jacob wasn't able to get on the elephants like he wanted to. But I was able to convince him that he and Ephraim could ride the zebras instead. Disaster averted! Good thing zebras are almost as cool as elephants!

I think this carousel is one of my favorite parts of the zoo too. We enjoy watching all the animals, but he carousel is fun and beautiful!

What a great day to go to the zoo! The end of November and December get so busy that it may just be the last time we go until next year, but I guess we'll have to see about that!

While we were at the zoo, Daddy was taking the day off of work to take his C+ certification test. He texted me and told me that he had passed both parts of the test! Not only did he pass, he totally killed it! On the first portion of the test he got 858 out of 900 and he only needed 675 to pass. Then on the second part he got 864 points and only needed 700 to pass. Wow!

Great job Honey! We are proud of you for studying so hard and passing your certification test!
