Memorial Day

By Monday I was feeling a whole lot better. We had figured out which of the medications were causing me problems and I really wanted to go home. I missed Joe (even though he came to visit me every day) and I missed the kids. So Monday I came home from the hospital. In the morning Joe went and picked up the boys in Evanston. Melinda was kind enough to come get me from the hospital and our little family all got home about the same time.

The boys were happy to see me, and I was really happy to see them. Apparently Amelia found all the driving to be incredibly exhausting because she fell asleep on the couch. Look at how big she is getting! Now she almost does not fit in her little newborn clothes anymore.

We had a busy evening getting everyone settled back in. I took this picture of Ephraim coloring so I could remember that he has been on a coloring kick lately. He had not really shown much interest in coloring, then all of the sudden he just can't get enough of it. He does a pretty good job too.

It is great when you can get both of your kids doing the same thing, especially when it is a nice, quiet activity like coloring!

Memorial Day Weekend in Wyoming

Over Memorial Day weekend Jacob and Ephraim went to Wyoming to spend the weekend with Grandpa and Grandma Heiner. This was the boys' first trip anywhere by themselves, and the first time they had ever spent the weekend away from Mommy and Daddy.

We were all supposed to go to Wyoming together, but I ended up in the hospital. I had postpartum issues with both of the boys, but this time it has been more severe. So Joe took the boys to Wyoming and then stayed home and took care of Amelia while I was at the hospital getting my medication problems figured out.

The boys had a great time at Grandpa and Grandma Heiner's house. They got to play with different toys, watch cable TV, and visit Grandpa at the FBO. They went to church with Grandpa and Grandma, and it even snowed on Sunday and Monday, which they thought was pretty funny.

One thing they especially enjoyed was riding in Grandpa's Razr.

They thought it was pretty cool to be able to drive around the airport with Grandpa.

They would have loved an airplane ride too, but the weather was not cooperative. Oh well, maybe next time!

Holding Amelia

It has been a while since I have posted, so I thought I would put up some cute pictures of the kids.

Here is a picture of Amelia napping that I took on the 25th. We usually wrap her up with her arms down while she is sleeping because otherwise she accidentally hits herself in the face with her hands. Turns out that she is quite the escape artist though. She tends to get one or both of her little hands out!

I couldn't resist taking her picture because she is so cute. Speaking of irresistible, check out Jacob holding Amelia today. He is such a poser! He sure loves his little sister though.

Ephraim loves Amelia too. Here he is helping her get her binky back into her mouth while he was holding her. Now that the boys are finally not so sick, they have been able to interact with their sister a bit more.

Jacob, Ephraim and Amelia

This had been quite the week. First on Monday Amelia had her Doctor's appointment and later that day Ephraim got a fever. Then he threw up on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Tuesday he threw captain crunch up all over the carpet. I tried to clean it with the carpet cleaner, and so did Joe, but we still have some pink spots on the carpet. Ephraim also had diarrhea. He was pretty darn sick. Needless to say he also had a pretty good rash on his bum.

Then on Thursday Jacob had his five year check up. So he got to have shots and had a fever on Friday. He also threw up once, which was thrilling. What a week!

Here are some random pictures. This one is from Wednesday when Daddy let Jacob try to feed Amelia. He thought that was pretty cool.

Ephraim wanted to watch too. The reason he isn't wearing pants is because I was working on getting his diaper changed at the time. He was wearing a diaper a lot that week because I didn't want to have to clean up all that underwear.

Later in the week on Friday when Ephraim was feeling better, we let him hold Amelia as well. Just look at how big she is getting!

Jacob's Birthday Weekend

Happy Birthday Jacob! Can you believe that this guy is already 5? When did he get so big? Here is a picture of Jacob with the alphabet fridge letters that Grandma Heiner got him.

Jacob had a lot of fun on his birthday. First, he helped me frost the cupcakes for his party.

Amelia even got dressed up for his party. Jacob tells me all the time that Amelia always wears her pajamas. So here she is wearing something else.

Jacob had fun at his Toy Story Party. First Jacob and his friends looked for Sheriff badges that were hidden around the yard.

Then they played pin the badge on Woody.

Thanks to Brenda for all the fun games at the party. The kids loved them! Jacob loved opening his presents from everyone and having cupcakes and ice cream.

The big surprise for Jacob's birthday was not really a surprise because he has been asking for it for quite a while. For his birthday Jacob wanted "a two-wheeled bike with training wheels". We found this really cool Buzz Lightyear bike that Daddy put together the night before his birthday (with Amelia's supervision).

Jacob waited until Daddy got home from work to open his bike. He absolutely loved it!

We also opened presents from Grandma and Grandpa Devereaux and Aunt Emily. Jacob was very excited to get a Lego camper. He wanted to put it together right away, but we didn't really have time for that.

The boys rode around the driveway for a while, and then we went to Jacob's choice of restaurant for dinner. He chose McDonald's because of the play-place, which was tons of fun for the boys. Then we came home and the boys rode their bikes again for a minute. Then we had cake and ice cream.

I picked up the cake at Wal-Mart, which was cool because it had a cake topper that is also a magnet. So now Buzz can fly on our fridge.

Here is a picture of the birthday boy.

Then on Sunday we had some time in the morning, so Daddy helped Jacob put together his camper. They thought it was pretty cool.

We also tried for a family picture using the tripod. Here are the ones that turned out best:

Let's Go Fly a Kite

Jacob has been wanting to go fly our Buzz kite for quite a while, but it seems that we are always busy, or it is not windy enough. This past week we finally had a day that was windy enough, so Daddy put the kite together and we headed out to the cemetery.

I put Amelia in her car seat and put her in the stroller and we ran over to take pictures.

Jacob was really good about helping Daddy get the kite launched into the air.

We kept trying, but the wind was not consistent enough for the kite to stay up. So we decided to try one of the other smaller kites. That kite would not stay up for long either. Before long Daddy was tired of running across the field. Jacob said he had plenty of energy for that, so off he went.

He has a lot of energy! We discovered on our way back across the field that the Buzz kite works pretty well as a glider. We will have to go back out and give it a try sometime.

The boys had a great time flying their kites with Daddy.

Amelia at 2 months

Here are Amelia's stats from the doctor's office:

Length: 21 1/2 inches (18th percentile)
Weight: 9 lbs 7 oz (17th percentile)
Head circumference: 38 cm (33rd percentile)

Warm/Cold Weekend

What a wacky weekend. Yesterday we were in the 80s and today it is cold and rainy.

Yesterday we spent quite a bit of time outside. I managed to get some laundry on the line while Joe worked in the yard. The boys had a fun time playing outside in the sandbox.

Here is a picture of Amelia helping Mommy with the laundry. Good thing Daddy reminded me to take a picture!

Yesterday as I walked past the play/craft room I did a double take. Look at how messy it has gotten lately. Guess we really should clean that up sometime!

I meant to take a photo of all the kids in their church clothes today, but it didn't happen. The boys were undressed before I remembered. But here is a picture of Amelia in her little church dress.

Amelia Bear (May 5)

I have the best friends ever. Recently while I was at Melinda's house, she helped me take some pictures of Amelia. I have been meaning to take some for quite a while. It's a good thing that this hat and diaper cover still fit her!

Here are my favorite photos:

Amelia didn't like laying on her tummy, so I didn't get too many of those shots. She didn't mind laying on her back and showing us her big blue eyes.

Melinda thought to add a flower to the bear hat, which I thought was precious.

Isn't she beautiful? Everyone still remarks to me how little Amelia is, but she definitely weighs a lot more now! I bet she weighs at least 8 pounds. I guess we will see at her next doctor's appointment.

Here is one last picture of Amelia without the hat on so you can see her hair (or lack thereof). It is definitely falling out, but I can't quite tell if it is growing back in blonde or light brown. I guess time will tell.

My Boys and Girl

I am trying to get back into blog posting and doing other things I enjoy like taking photos. I realize I have not taken nearly as many photos of the kids lately as I would like to. So here are a few photos of the three of them that I finally managed to get taken.

If course they are all in their pajamas, and I could not get all three of them smiling in the same picture. I am actually amazed that I managed to get a picture of Amelia smiling and looking at the camera.

These two boys love their little sister!

Super Chef (May 1)

While my mom and dad were visiting, Ephraim came upstairs dressed like this:

It made me laugh that apparently he is a super chef. What a silly boy!

Sometime later in the week I was giving the boys baths and after getting Ephraim out of the tub I got distracted. Next thing I see is Ephraim flying by me with his superhero cape on and nothing else! That made me laugh.
