Fremont Street Experience in Las Vegas and On the Road Again

The evening following our bike ride we had just enough energy to take the boys to Fremont Street, which was not too far from our hotel.

Our excursion was timed absolutely perfectly. We found a place to park and walked 1/2 block to Fremont Street. Within 10 minutes of our getting there the show started. While we were waiting we walked around and showed the boys some of the iconic sights like Vegas Vic, the famous 50 foot tall winking neon cowboy:

and the Glitter Gulch Cowgirl.

We also saw our share of impersonators. From rock stars and showgirls to comic book heroes.

This was all very fascinating to the boys, but not nearly as cool as the show! The neon lights and signs dimmed and the music started. We got to hear "American Pie" by Don McLean, which was cool because we could all sing along.

The boys loved watching the colors and images on the canopy overhead. I thought the show was pretty cool too!

Check out how wide the boys eyes were! It was hard to get a good picture of how excited they were by the show because of the low lighting and the fact that they kept moving their heads to watch the different pictures go by.
Even though we were tired, I'm glad we took the time to take the boys to see Fremont Street. They absolutely loved it! It didn't take us very long to get back to the hotel, which was great because we were all ready to crash for the night!

The next morning we woke up, packed up our stuff, and headed for home! We were glad that we had taken the extra night to sleep in Vegas because it made the trip home much more pleasant for all of us. Everyone got comfy in the car, and of course both the boys took a nap at one point or another.

The first one to fall was Ephraim. He passed out before we even had lunch!
He kept leaning precariously over to the side, so we got out Daddy's pillow, which he faceplanted into. I finally managed to get him adjusted into a more comfortable position, and he slept for quite a while.

Next it was Teddy's turn to take a nap.

Actually Teddy was goofing around and posing himself in various places in the car while I took his picture. Wasn't that nice of him to keep mommy entertained?

Before long Ephraim woke up... bright eyed as usual!

We even managed to get Mr. Jacob-no-nap to take a little snooze in the car. Apparently he was more tired than he thought. The boys must have had so much fun with Grandpa Devereaux that he wore them right out!

I don't really sleep in the car, so as you can tell I amused myself by taking random pictures. I love the reflection of the road in Joe's sunglasses. I don't know if you can tell in this picture, but when you blow this picture up full size you can tell that the picture in the rear view mirror in his glasses is actually what is in focus.

We eventually caught up with my parents (because they waited for us) and we had lunch together in Beaver. Then we drove the rest of the way home, randomly passing them and taking pictures of each other's vehicles. We had fun and at least it kept us awake, right?

It was so good to be home! We unloaded the van and then just spent the rest of the evening relaxing. We had a great trip to Vegas and it was fun to see Emily and Grandpa Devereaux again! Now we just have to wait until Christmas for the next time, but that will get here before we know it!

  1. Our trip to Vegas was so much fun! I'm glad we were able to do it even if your Dad and I didn't get on the bridge. I'm glad you got to go to Fremont street and it turned out to be easy to do.
