Weekend Warriors

This weekend Joe and I finally got to go on a bike ride together.

I have been getting up every morning around 5:20 a.m. to go on a bike ride before Joe leaves to ride his bike to work. We have both been enjoying ourselves and wanted to share the experience.

So Melinda and Jason kindly agreed to watch Jacob and Ephraim for us so we could go out together (even though it was Jason's birthday!). Thanks guys! Happy Birthday Jason!

So we got up, packed up the kids and headed to their house. Melinda was also kind enough to take a picture of Joe and I with our bikes.

We rode our bikes from the Randall's house through American Fork and Lehi to Point of the Mountain!! Can you believe it? I actually made it to the top of that ginormous hill! Joe encouraged me and even though it was hard, I did it!

Then on the way home we ended up going east on 700 North... up the hill to the temple. I couldn't believe Joe wanted me to go up ANOTHER huge hill, especially after we had gone so far.

He must know me better than I know myself, because I made it up that hill too. My new bike is awesome! We went 22 miles total in about an hour and a half. We had a great time, and hope to be able to go out together a couple of times a month. I think cycling will be a fun activity that we can do together as a family. Joe and I are already looking at other tours that we can ride in the near future!

The CASVAR bike tour is this weekend and I am pretty confident that I can do the 38 mile ride. I think that Joe is going to ride the 85 mile ride. I'll let you know how it goes!

I've Still Got Sand in My Shoes

There were two items on my list of accomplishments from the other day that resulted in cute photos/video (or at least I think so). I worked on cleaning up our sandbox for Jacob's upcoming birthday party. Of course he wanted to "help" me, so here is a picture of Jacob playing with his new tools in the sandbox (there were many more pictures, but for your sake I just posted this one :o).

Later I spent some time helping Jacob practice his bicycle skills. Right now he still scoots around on his bike, but he is starting to figure out the whole pedaling thing. I think he is absolutely adorable (don't you?).

I Want to Ride my Bicycle

Friday morning the FedEx man came to our door with a package. I knew that it was his birthday present from Grandpa and Grandma Devereaux, so I signed for it and he brought in the box. Once Jacob saw the box there was no containing his excitement. He ran around for several minutes saying "Jacob's bike" over and over again. It was so cute that I finally ran and got the camera and took this video.




I don't think he was excited at all, what do you think?
So when Daddy got home from work he got to hear all about the bike in the box, and he put it together so Jacob could try it out. There was no way we could make Jacob wait until his birthday to open the box and ride his bike... especially after he saw the picture on the box!

Jacob loves the bell on his bike. Here is a video of him ringing the bell and telling us how he is going to ride his bike down town. I don't know where he got that from, but it's pretty funny.



He hasn't quite figured out the whole pedaling thing, but luckily our driveway has a slope to it so he can coast his way down it. I'm sure he'll figure out the whole pedaling thing in no time. Here is Jacob "riding" his bike down the driveway.



Hopefully by the time Grandpa and Grandma Devereaux come visit for Ephraim's baby blessing he can show them how he can pedal himself around the driveway and sidewalks. I can't believe how fast Jacob is growing up. I remember when he first started walking, and now he has a bicycle! They grow up so fast!
